Several wild birds and one holding with other captive birds, have been diagnosed with H5N8 in Norway.

In order to stop the spread of the virus the Norwegian Food Safety Authority has implemented several measures in southern Norway.

  • Hunting of certain high-risk species has been temporarily halted.
  • All kept poultry, both commercially farmed and privately held, must be kept inside or under roof to avoid contact with wild birds.
  • Increased controls and sampling has been initiated.
  • The public has been encouraged to report any sick or dead birds to the to the NFSA.
