Help us keep our fish healthy from gyro

Published 12.10.2012 | Modified 24.06.2016

Gyrodactylus salaris is a tiny creature which is often referred to as the "salmon killer" or simply "Gyro". The effects of this parasite are so serious for the salmon that it can disappear completely from the infected rivers. If we do not do something, fishing for wild salmon in Norway could be consigned to the history books.

For this reason it is very important that everyone who is out and about around rivers and fresh water knows what to do. We all have to do our bit to ensure that this parasite doesnot spread to other rivers.

Here is an information brochure telling you what you can do to prevent the spreading of the parasite.
