Health status of approved aquaculture facilities

The register provides a comprehensive overview of approved aquaculture facilities in Norway, with publicly available information on their health status.

The purpose of the register is to strengthen biosecurity and prevent diseases from occurring and spreading, through better oversight, monitoring, and documentation of health status.

This also helps ensure traceability, safeguard animal health, and support well-functioning trade in aquaculture products.

About the information in the register

The information about the aquaculture facilities is based on data reported to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) and the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries (Fiskeridirektoratet).

The information related to disease outbreaks at fish farming facilities is taken from Mattilsynet's form for reporting listed diseases. The information in the register is updated daily.

For information about zones and facilities that have been declared free of specific diseases, see Aquatic animals: Listing of disease-free territories, zones and compartments in Norway.

Norway has two zones with national eradication programs for the parasite Gyrodactylus salaris. For more information about these zones, see page for Gyrodactylus salaris.
