Food for Specific Groups (FSG)
The regulation "Foods for Specific Groups" (FSG) includes regulations on food intended for infants and young children, food for special medical purposes, and total diet replacement for weight control.
Foods which do not fulfill the requirements to be Food for Specific Groups (FSG) and are fortified with vitamins, minerals or amino acids, must apply for a prior approval - see fortified food.
The following FSG marketed in Norway must be notified to the NFSA:
• Infant formulae and follow-on formulae
• Processed cereal-based foods and baby foods (weaning foods)
• Foods for special medical purposes
• total diet replacement for weight control
